Analogous color contrast

I felt like making a polyvore set after reading about color contrasts. If you don’t know what color contrast is then I will recommend Imogen’s blog: insideoutstyleblog.com, which has lots of other useful information. I have been ‘studying’ her articles and videos religiously these past few days, lol!
I am light summer and has low contrast, but as my hair is blond and eyes blue-green my color contrast is somewhere between monochromatic and analogous. I have read many places that light summer look good in monochromatic color schemes but being able to wear analogous colors give me so many new options! I really like how harmonious it looks when you pair neighboring colors on the color wheel, like pink + red, blue + green, green + yellow etc. I tried to pair coral with yellow, as orange is not an option for me.  I think I like the outfit with the purple cardigan and blue scarf the best, but the yellow and green looks surprisingly good to me, something I would never have thought of wearing before.

My favorite actress and someone I look up to, Miss Fanning, is turning 18 today (born Feb 23th 1994). She is growing into a beautiful young lady, and a very stylish and talented one at that!

At this picture (left) she is arriving at the Rodarte Fall 2012 fashion show, and the delicate lace dress looks gorgeous on her. She always seems to have that vibe of fresh Spring air around her, and I love her positive and happy personality.

She inspires me to follow my dreams, as she has already achieved so much at such a young age. She is even two years younger than me!

Today the sun was shining on a clear blue sky all day, and even though I was a bit disappointed that The Muppets movie that should have had première today got cancelled, the weather cheered me up. I hope the weather was just as nice at her place.

In dedication to this special day, I made this wallpaper (netbook size) with a beautiful picture from V Magazine #63 from 2010.

The beautiful girl Dakota Fanning turns 18

I made this wallpaper with Dakota and Elle too, which I hadn’t found the time to upload.

This wallpaper wasn't easy to make, but was worth the time

Dakota has been busy filming movies as usual throughout her 17th year, and I’m looking forward to see her play in two UK movies which takes place in two different time periods.

In Now is Good she will be playing alongside the cute British actor Jeremy Irvine (War Horse), and the story is about a 17-year-old girl dying of leukaemia, who has a list of things she wants to do before she dies, with loosing her virginity as number one. The second one is called Effie and takes place in the Victorian era, where Dakota will be playing the teenage bride of an art critic! Both movies seems very interesting and I can’t wait to hear her British accent!

Don't worry, she's wearing a wig

12-13 year-old girl models February 12, 2012

Yesterday my mom called me from the living room and said there was a documentary about models in Japan. As she knows about my interest in Japan, she thought I might find it interesting. So I gave it a chance.

The documentary is called Girl Model and follows a 13-year old girl called Nadya from Siberia, who wins a beauty contest and gets the chance to become a model in Japan. She thinks it is a dream-come-true and wants to earn money for her poor family. But the modelling world is not as glamorous as she might expected, and has extremely high demands regarding her size and weight. Nadya who is unable to speak English soon finds herself in the brutal reality of the business, where she can’t eat, walk in the sun, swim in the sea – she practically must not grow! The Japanese modelling business wants cute-looking skinny pubescent girls to model adult women’s clothing.

Many young girls are scouted in Siberia and travel to Japan, having been promised that they will earn a lot of money, but most of them come back with debt from travelling expenses and having been taken advantage of their ignorance. In the film, Nadya doesn’t even get to see her photos and must go to a store and browse lots of magazines to get a glimpse of herself. She also ends up with debt and must take modelling jobs in China and Taiwan to pay it off.

This documentary really shocked me. To see how the model industry uses 12-14 year old girls to model women’s clothing, and makes the girls lie about their ages, gives one a very unsettling feeling in the stomach. Nadya is made to say she is 15, even though she’s 13. I doubt it’s only Japan who uses models that young, as I think I often see models that are very skinny and has that perfect pubescent skin and almost none womanly figures. In the film they also tell us that many fashion houses claim they don’t use models under 18, but the truth is that they many times don’t know how old the models really are.

When the girls wear women’s clothing and makeup it can be hard to tell their age, and until now I thought most young-looking models was about 20, and had no shapes because they almost didn’t eat anything. But I looked through some of my Japanese magazines and some scans on my computer, and must say they really look very young.

Most of the scans are from the magazine ‘Soup’, which I got from a Japanese friend. I could only find one in all my three ‘Cutie’ magazines, which was a relief. I also found some sickening pages in the bottom of the ‘Soup’ magazine with before-after shots of girls, who had been on diet.

The documentary gives you a look into the private world of the model industry and it’s cruelty, but it does not come up with any solutions to solve the problem. It is good that it opens our eyes, and let us know that this is happening, but it also give you a hopeless feeling that there is nothing to do about it.

As much as I think these girls are extremely beautiful to look at, I can’t except the fact that many young innocent girls are misused and drop out of school and looses the opportunity to get a future, because they run into debt. I hope something will be done to stop this in the future.

The Woman in Black – a spooky and terrifying story February 11, 2012

I went to see The Woman in Black yesterday, and boy, it was scary!! I kept hiding behind my scarf nervous of what to happen next. I had looked forward to see this film ever since I heard the news about Daniel Radcliffe’s new ‘post-potter’ film, and knew immediately that I had to watch it.

It is not often I get a chance to see a ghost story tale in the cinema, and it had been ages since I had watched a horror movie on the big screen, which made the experience even more impressive.

The film was like nothing I have ever seen before (and I have watched many horror films!), the only film coming close may be ‘The Others’, but I felt every scene and scare was quite original, which made it unpredictable and effectively scary.

Image

The film builds up a spooky ominous atmosphere little by little which works very well. About halfway through the film, the shocks starts to come and it’s not the hopping-in-the-chair kind of shocks, but the ones that make you scream! And it just gets worse and worse (or better and better!).

Most of the film, especially when Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe) is in the big old house, has no talking, and it is in those scenes Radcliffe really shines in his acting, which is very believable. I didn’t see him as Harry at any moment, and I don’t miss the glasses. It was so refreshing to see him play something completely different, and I must admit those old-fashioned English clothes suits him very well! After seeing him in this film, I no longer worry about his acting career after Harry Potter.

Light summer inspiration

I really want a light grey trench coat for Spring,

as I think I am a Light Summer,

so I made this outfit based on the coat and using light summery colors.

Cate Blanchett looks so stunning.

J-drama: IS ~ Otoko Demo Onna Demo Nai Sei ~ August 22, 2011

I guess most people are sighing for more summer vacation, but mine won’t end until September, where my first semester in uni starts. Therefore, I’m wasting spending my last days of laziness to watch a lot of drama series. As all series began airing this summer, many of them haven’t finished yet, so I’m watching quite a few to make the waiting time more durable, lol.

One of the dramas I’m watching right now is called IS ~Otoko Demo Onna Demo Nai Sei ~

It’s about Haru, who is not like everybody else, but born as an inter sexual or IS, which means Haru can’t be classified as either a boy nor a girl. Even though Haru’s parents were shocked to hear their child was IS, they raise their child with love.  When they have to choose Haru’s gender for the birth certificate, they choose a girl. But later in Haru’s life, his personality turns out to be more that of a boy, and he is therefore treated as one by everybody else. However, Haru’s life becomes complicated when he has to attend high school as a girl, as that is the gender written on Haru’s birth certificate. He comforts himself with the thought that “it’s only for three years”.

But Haru’s view of himself as a boy is tested, when he get’s his first period, and doesn’t have a clue what to do. Luckily for him, his new friend Miwako helps him out. In class Haru has to stick to the girls, even though he would rather see himself hang out with the guys. His efforts to behave like a girl are quite hilarious!

Haru’s true identity as IS, is a secret he has to hide in order to avoid people’s prejudices and bullying. But his best friend from kindergarten Leon knows about, whom Haru protected from the kids who made fun of his naturally curly hair *aww*

Leon and Haru are still good buddies, when Haru is forced to change his identity to female, which makes old ladies from his neighborhood think he’s having a gender identity disorder. Poor Haru..

Haru also befriends a boy from the school’s soccer team, Kenji, whom Haru can share his soccer fandom with. However, Kenji grows more and more warm feelings towards “Girl Haru”, while Haru wants their relationship to stay as friends. But Haru’s body (and maybe mind too) is becoming more and more femine, which complicates things.

Haru’s new best friend is Miwa-chan, though. She appears to be a beautiful, cute girl with a perfect life. Or so it seems, when Haru visits her home at least. But that turns out to be a merry façade and Miwako is actually struggling with a father who is never home, and a mother who want’s to control her life. She is very happy to have found a friend in Haru, and they become even closer, when Haru share’s his secret with her.

Even though this drama has it’s funny moments, it mostly has a serious feeling to it and you get to deeply know the characters, which I like a lot. I think this drama has a fresh feeling to it, with many new faces (I haven’t seen any of these actors before) and it never gets boring to watch. The drama also deals with a subject that is quite uncommon, which I find very interesting and thought-provoking as well. Furthermore, it’s quite nerve-racking to see if Haru will be able to keep his secret, and whether he will become more like a girl later on. I still have six episodes left (out of 10) so I’m very very excited to see what happens >o<

Besides IS, I’m also watching Kingyo Club (check my sisters blogpost), which is very sweet and romantic, as well as Ouran High School Host Club that is hilarious!

New music to listen to April 28, 2011

After quite a few holidays without mail I finally received my two Justin Bieber cd’s from CD WOW! and I was very happy that they were without scratches and perfectly untouched. Too many times I have received completely new CD’s which were in poor shape and looked used, but not this time ^o^)/

Here are the CDs in plastic wrap

And here they are without plastic – sparkling! I really like the cover on the My Worlds acoustic, Justin looks great with a blue hoodie and leather jacket.

It’s funny how the design of both CDs look so similar and they fit the My Worlds CD that I already have perfectly!

When I opened both CDs I was happy to see how nice they had made the designs. I must say that Never Say Never the remixes has the best design of all JB albums yet, but I think that My Worlds acoustic is very nice as well; it looks very cool with the black and white, plus I like that we get to see Justin with colors!

Very nice pictures behind the discs too! ^^

As a nice extra gift both CD books/folders turned out to be posters. I like the acoustic one the best; it’s hanging on my door right now ^_~

Posters yay!

I’m glad I was able to get My Worlds acoustic as I think it’s a limited release. I didn’t want his compilation album because I already have the My Worlds CD.

If I have to choose my favorite track from each CD I will choose Born To Be Somebody from Never Say Never. It’s such an uplifting song and the only bad thing about it is that it’s too short (only 3 minutes). If I have to choose from the acoustic CD I’ll definitely choose Favorite Girl (live), which I really love because it’s live; I like the edge to his voice. If Justin Bieber is to release a live album one day, I’ll buy it in a heartbeat!

I’m already looking forward to hear new songs from Bieber, as he never disappoints. I read on the web that his next album will come out in the last quarter of 2011 and that he will move on to a more mature style similar to Justin Timberlake (funny how both their first names are Justin!). I’m really curious and anxious to find out how that will sound like, but until then I’ll enjoy listening to these two babies all summer long! ^^

Never Say Never, my experience April 16, 2011

Yesterday, my sister and I went and watched the documentary of Justin Bieber’s life Never Say Never, which had premier in Denmark about a week ago, April 7. Usually I always want to watch a movie on it’s premier day, but this time I didn’t have the time and would rather watch it later to avoid hysteria from obsessive fan girls ;)

Cool purple glasses

After a week from the premier, I didn’t expect that we would be able to get the cool purple 3D glasses, made especially for this movie (cool!), but they still had plenty left – think it’s a nice souvenir!

Some snaps from my cell phone:

Entertaining and insightful

Overall I thought the movie was better than expected. This is the first documentary/concert I have watched in the cinema, and I was a bit afraid it would become boring, when it didn’t have a storyline and things like that. But it wasn’t boring at all – actually it was very entertaining from start to end!

After having watched this, I feel like I understand what kind of person Justin Bieber is a lot better, and how this boy could become so popular in such a brief time; He started playing the drum at the age of 2, and in the videoclips his timing was really good! Besides drums, he can also play the guitar and piano really well. I feel It’s good to know that he has a very loving mother, grandparents and friends, who keep him staying a healthy boy and down to earth. I admire how he handles all that pressure at such a young age, and I hope he’ll stay being himself in the future.

Some snapshots from the trailer in HD:

Almost like a real concert

I was quite surprised how great the 3D effect was in the concert clips. Everything looked so clear and the stage felt so close, as if you were standing on the first row and were able to touch his shoes! I think it was a very good idea to make the concert in 3D, as it made the experience much more vivid and captivating; I’m so glad I didn’t wait for the DVD release on this one!

After watching this, I don’t feel so bad that I weren’t able to go to his concert in Herning the 1st of April, because I really feel like I have been to one of his concerts! And I even escaped an headache and had a really pleasant experience. Went out of the cinema with a big smile on my face :-D

Cute young Haley

One of my favorite actors Haley Joel Osment, who I saw for the first time in The Sixth Sense (of course), has birthday today. Compared to how I’m used to see him, as a child, this seems a bit old, but actually he’s still very young; He’s only four years older than me.

I know him mostly from The Sixth Sense and A.I. Artificial Intelligence, which I have watched many times, and which are precious movies to me. However, just recently, I have watched two more movies with him where he’s still very young; Pay It Forward and Edges of the Lord. He’s just as adorable in these movies as he’s in The Sixth Sense and A.I. :)

Wanna watch this…

My sister has purchased his movie Second-hand Lions, where he’s 14 years old, and his voice is changing and he looks more like a teenage boy, which I’m looking forward to see ^^ I know that this movie has received nice reviews and the trailer looks pretty good to me :) It’s just a bit sad that we couldn’t watch it today on his birthday – as planned – because the shipping is too slow.

Here’s the trailer:

Unbelievably convincing Haley

I always forget that Haley’s acting isn’t real, he just makes you believe in the character so much! For instance, in A.I. where his mother leaves him behind in the forest, and he starts pleading with her to stay – I always feel a pang in the heart! I don’t know anyone like Haley who can awaken my maternal instincts – he just makes me want to protect him >o<;

I think that even though I haven’t watched that many movies with Haley Joel Osment, his performances are so mesmerizing and unforgettable that he has become one of my favorite actors. I can watch his movies again and again without getting tired of him ^o^ But still, you can’t help getting curious about his other movies and more recent works. I have only watched him playing a child, but I’m curious about how he acts as an adult and more mature roles.

Haley day~

My sister and I are both crazy with Haley and in order to celebrate Haley’s birthday today, were going to watch a couple of his movies; we will watch The Jungle Book 2, where Haley gives voice to Mowgli (I’m pretty curious about Haley voice-acting!) and of course we’ll watch The Sixth Sense as well! ;) Looking forward to hear his haunting and epic line: I see dead people. But the original plan was that we were going to watch Secondhand Lions, as I mentioned earlier, but unfortunately that wasn’t meant to be! (stupid shipping)

Adult Haley

Grown-up Haley

I found this picture of Haley as an adult (but this is from 2008, I think, so it’s not completely up to date) featured in a magazine. I think it’s great that he is healthy and still acting. He still looks like himself and is still a cutie! ^^ Just too bad he haven’t been in that many movies in the last years, but my sister said that she has read that it’s because he’s a bit picky about his roles. He doesn’t take whatever people throw at him, which I guess is only a good thing ;)

Young Haley and Emily

I think this picture is so adorable! Brother Haley with little sister Emily. They have both become big names, but I must admit I think Haley’s talent is more impressive (of what I’ve seen so far).
